Recruiting Report: Billy Moran (2018)
A year ago Parshall won 19 of 25 games but bowed out in Regions. The goals for Parshall this year the state tournament and leading the way will be 6-foot-5 Billy Moran.
“With a lot of young guys coming into play we have quite a bit of skill,” Moran told PHD. “We have some good ball handlers up top and some shooters.
“Not all of us are big so we do have speed which could be deadly if we use it to our potential. The senior goals is to four-peat the district championship and try go the region championship and get Mister Basketball.”
The team has big goals heading into 2017-18 and Billy has some important goals of his own.
“My senior goals in basketball varies,” Billy said. “I want to play hard through districts and fight through regionals. If the game goes our way I’m hoping to make it to the biggest stage in the game, state.”
Moran spent some time with the North Dakota Phenom Regional team this spring and summer and gained a lot of valuable experience from playing there, and in other off-season events.
“I’ve become better with my jump shot,” Moran said. “I’ve worked from the mid range more but I’ve also got better at attacking the basket. I’ve grown in shooting but also doing it together as a team.
“Moving the ball and making smarter passes are a main focus but playing as a team is what I also have a main focus on. There are a lot of experiences I will take from this past spring/summer.
“The traveling, bonding, and tournaments are what I will always remember. You meet new people and also keep friendships.”
Billy also learned what he wants to work on this fall before basketball starts.
“I want to become a better ball handler,” Moran said. “As a big it’s good for me to become experienced more and more each time with handling the ball down low.”
Moran would also like to play college basketball in the future
“Well, I might look forward to Williston State or Minot State. Preferably Minot State.”
