Recruiting Report: Anthony Barnard (2018)
Many prospects had solid seasons this spring and summer playing with their AAU programs. Among those that has solidified and proven his stock is Kokomo wing Anthony Barnard. The 6’6 wing played with UA G3 Grind 2018 and showcased what he does well, everything.
Barnard was a guy developing into a solid player heading into the Spring and all he has done since then is play consistently well and with energy. Those two things can get overlooked by parents and players but coaches love those aspects and when you pair them with a diverse skill set, that player can become extremely valued.
Anthony has good size and length with good athleticism and can play all over the floor. Obviously, defensive versatility is there but offensively he can post up and shoot from the wing. He plays hard and will be that guy that will go after 50/50 balls on rebounds.
Last season for Kokomo, Barnard averaged 7.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Expect that number to double with a chance to be among the best players and most productive players in the state. The development he has shown has been biggest in the last six months and he looks the part of a breakout player.
Among the schools looking into the rising senior, Marian, Purdue Northwest, Goshen, Army, Ohio Dominican, IPFW, IUPUI, and Indianapolis. The range between high-level NAIA and Low-Major is quite small with the talent gap and things have to be optimistic right now with the schools that are involved.
