Recruiting Report 2018: Adrian Thomas
Adrian Thomas, 6’2″, CG, Northwest Jaguars HS. Germantown, MD.
Grassroots Team: MOCO Heat/Team Vito
This coming season the Northwest Jaguars have the talent to make a serious run in the Montgomery County 4A Regionals. With 4 plus college prospects which include Adrian the questions will be the same as any other team. Will the Jaguars players buy into Head Coach Rob Smith & will the team chemistry mesh? The Jaguars welcome back 6’4″ TJ Williams & return PG Norval Black & CG Kolbey Woodard & Lameek Lumsden who are very skilled. In our opinion Northwest could be a top tier Montgomery County 4A Team.
Last season Adrian averaged 10ppg & 5.5 rpg, but in the playoffs took his game up a notch averaging 13 to 14 ppg. We watched Adrian in the MD Elite Summer League were impressed by his overall skill set, athleticism & basketball IQ. Adrian says,” Offensively I am an all around player, with a good mid-range & I can take man off dribble, from the left or right. My court court vision is very good and I can run the fast break or half court as a CG for Northwest. Adrian adds,” I can score on all 3 levels & I have good range. Since our season ended at Northwest my 3 point shot has improved. For the remainder of the summer I am working to improve shooting skills off the dribble & becoming more consistent with my shot. My footwork has improved on both ends of the floor. Additionally, I have become quicker with my lateral movement.”
While Grassroots play & summer league play have concluded Adrian is still hard at work & adds, “For the remainder of the summer I am running long distance & sprints. I work on some area of strength & conditioning and my basketball skills almost daily & we run pick up games at various locations. This summer I attended the Mt. St. Mary basketball camp which helped me learn new angles. For the spring & summer I gained great experience playing Grassroots for MOCO Heart/ Team Vito and Northwest HS in the MD Elite Summer League.” In the MD Elite playoffs Adrian averaged 13 ppg in 3 games before losing in the semifinals. Looking forward to the 2017/18 season for Northwest Adrian says,” This will be our year.”
In the classroom Adrian maintains a 3.1 GPA & is undecided on his collage major. He considers his father as his role model & Adrian wants to attend college & play basketball. He is receiving interest from Frostburg State & Randolph Macon. At this time we project Adrian in the D3 to D2 range. We will be following Northwest HS this coming season & provided game reports in addition to new Recruiting Reports for their players.
