Prospect Spotlight: Sean Houpt (2019)
Danville 2019 combo guard Sean Houpt is a lefty that has a strong build and makes plays on both ends of the floor. Crisp passer that makes sound decisions with the ball. Can let it fly from beyond the arc as he has a feel for finding open spaces to get his shot off. Plus defender that gets under the opponents skin on that end of the floor. Coaches son and fierce competitor!
He chatted about playing with the Illinois Irish 16U which was one of the most cohesive units we saw.
“It has been a good spring and summer. As a team we have been doing great. We got off to a slow start in July. We got it going rolling late in July. I have been playing really good in July. I have been shooting the ball well and defending the point guard well.”
Houpt spoke to his strengths as a player.
“Right now I feel like defending the ball and shooting the ball are my strengths.”
How was it this summer getting back together with his high school team at Danville?
“June was fun getting back together with Kendle (Moore) and the rest of the team. We played well in June and are looking forward to this season. We feel like we can do some big things.”
They should be able to force teams into turnovers and really push the tempo.
“I feel like we will be defend. We have a good 2-3 zone, but we will also be able to come out and get people in man. Push the ball. We will be really good on both ends of the floor and playing fast paced.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“I have got a text from Coach Wolfe at Western Illinois. That is about it for right now.”
Houpt’s cousin played at Western Illinois.
