Prospect Spotlight: Otis Frazier
Buckeye High School had a lot of success this past season. One of the big reasons for the team’s success is Otis Frazier. Frazier is 6’4 and lists himself as a PG or SG. He is a member of the 2019 class and looks primed to have a big season for Buckeye as they return a good portion of a strong 4A team.
Otis Frazier High School
Frazier came to Buckeye High School as a sophomore. Since arriving on campus, he mentioned that he loves the “competition” and “work ethic” of the team. Further, he appreciates how involved the coaches are with the players. He mentioned that they “care about the players on and off the court”.
Needless to say, Frazier has no regrets about making the transition to Buckeye. Also needless to say, Buckeye is happy that he made that decision. Last season the combo guard averaged a double-double with points and assists.
Despite having proved a lot, Frazier does not feel that his job is done. In fact, his goal for the upcoming season is to “win the state championship”. Further, he wants to be the “player of the year”. In all likeliness, he will need to play like the player of the year for Buckeye to reach his first goal.
Frazier has been putting in a lot of work as a means of getting ready for the season. Although the team returns a number of skilled prospects, notably Za-Ontay Boothman, Frazier knows what this group needs to do in order to achieve his lofty goals. He has focused primarily on his “jump shot and being able to get [his] jump shot off”.
In addition to working relentlessly on his game, he described himself as “athletic” and able “to get to the rim and [able to] hit the 3”. Moreover, he mentioned that he loves to play “aggressive defense”. His intensity mixed with length and skill set enable him to make a number of plays on the defensive end as well as on the glass.
Otis Frazier College Interest
Frazier has yet to receive any offers. With that said, he mentioned that he has received interest from “Miami University”. Although he is entering his Junior year, he has plenty of time to demonstrate to college coaches that he is able to play this game at the next level.
As far as his interests are concerned in a potential suitor, he mentioned that he wants a “good school with good academics”. In addition, he wants a school that is in a “nice area” and a basketball program that fits his style of play.
Frazier reported that he carries a “3.1 GPA”. While he needs to continue to improve his game in order to be a true 1 or 2, he brings a good GPA and plenty of athleticism. Further, he plays the game with a lot of passion and intensity. His drive to be successful is evident in how he does the little things in games. He wants to win and gives all that he has to win and be successful.
Otis Frazier College Prediction
Frazier’s length, athleticism, and skill set should draw the attention of a college suitor. He is a talented prospect with a good motor and a lot of uncoachables. At this time, I see him as a NCAA Division II prospect with a very high ceiling.
