Prospect Spotlight: Javin Dixon (2018)
2018 forward Javon Dixon put together a strong summer competing for Kansas Select as he gears up for his senior season.
A 6’5 wing, Dixon is a versatile performer who can step out and hit perimeter shots, runs the floor well and can defend the post or on the perimeter.
As a junior, Dixon he played a significant role for a Wichita Northwest squad averaging 11.8 points and a team-high 7.7 rebounds per game.
“As a player I learned that I have to be more consistent,” he said. “Last year was my first year of actually playing a whole year of varsity. You have to show up every game the same way with the same mindset. As a team we got stronger and smarter.”
Dixon says competing with Kansas Select alongside Ben Pyle, Dylan Vincent and several other of the state’s top players was a positive experience.
“The AAU experience has been a lot of fun,” Dixon said. “It’s a lot of basketball and you can’t go wrong wit that. I’ve played on a few different teams in the summer so I learn to adapt to the play style of each team and play my role.”
Dixon says he looks forward to playing in the Topeka Invitational mid-season.
A fan of Wichita State, Dixon says his mother has had the biggest influence on his basketball career to date.
“She’s the one that put me in basketball from the beginning,” Dixon said. “She’s invested a lot of money for me to play so I’m trying to go as far as I can for her.”
Dixon does not currently hold any offers, but has drawn interest from Central Dutch and Bethel.
