Prospect Spotlight: Chris Pugh (2018)
Bloomington 2018 6’1” point guard Chris Pugh had a strong close to the summer playing with Team Illinois 17U. He is a scoring point guard that gets in the lane with his speed and explosive first step. Made a living finishing at the rim and through contact. Consistently got to the rack and hit some clutch jump shots. Struggled as a free throw shooter. He is a quality small college scoring guard.
Pugh spoke about playing with Team Illinois.
“It has been going good. We have been playing good tournaments and against good competition. It is making us better. It is good exposure for all of us. I have played pretty good. I think I have been playing well overall this summer.”
What was the biggest improvement he saw in his skill set this summer?
“The three pointer. I used to not be a good three point shooter. Now I can shoot the ball a little bit and work in the post as a point guard.”
After a successful year last year Pugh is ready to make another run toward Peoria.
“I can’t wait to get back together with those guys. Hopefully we can get back to state again. We are going to have some good guards and some guys coming off the bench.”
Nothing much going on with his recruitment at this stage.
