Prospect Spotlight: Cade Callaghan (2018)
St. Charles North 2018 small forward Cade Callaghan is the unsung guy who just goes about his business and does the dirty work that is necessary for a team to win. He is a tough wing that rebounds well and can shoot it. Seems to have a nose for always being around the basketball. He was a key cog in the success that Tri City Thunder had over the last several years. Quality small college player.
Callaghan spoke about playing with Tri City Thunder for one last run this summer.
“We have been playing together since fourth grade and you can see that with our chemistry on the court. We share the ball pretty well and everyone is not there to get theirs. They are there to get the win for the team.”
What are the best parts of his game?
“I feel like my strengths are opening up in the post. Definitely my defense. I feel like I am a scrappy player will get an offensive rebound and get second effort points for our team.”
He spoke about his junior season last year.
“We started off well at 8-1 and then struggled at Pontiac. Then we ended well beating Geneva which was big and then lost to Jacobs in the regional. We went 19-8 which was a good year overall.”
How did June go preparing for next season?
“In June we did pretty well for summer. We only lost one senior so everyone is still there so I think we will be even better for next year.”
No college interest at this point for the wing, but he should definitely be on the radar of small college teams looking for a gritty wing that does the little things well.
