Darryn Hylton, 5’10”, PG, 2019.
CH Flowers Jaguars HS. Springdale, MD.
This coming season Darryn is the projected starting PG for CH Flowers HS who play in the very tough MD Prince Georges County 4A division which is the highest classification in MD. He is a true PG with excellent ball handling & play-making skills. Darryn is a very good college prospect and this a big year for him in terms of development & rankings. Darryn has a excellent upside & we believe he will get to it thru his dedication & athletic ability which is continually expanding as his body fills out.
We saw Darryn this summer in the DeMatha BSN Summer League where he displayed his true PG & floor general skills. We chatted with Darryn recently who says,”My ball-handling is very good with both hands, & I utilize a very good back dribble to re set our offense or to set up a move I can use on my defender. I have excellent court vision which allows to me to read my progressions & reads to make the proper play. My passing is a strong suit, but I can score from all 3 levels. I really like to attack the rim & I think I score best in the mid range with pull-ups or finishing at the basket with or without contact.” Darryn possesses excellent quickness & speed & he thrives in transition. In addition he can run the half court very well & Darryn knows how set his Coaches desired game pace.
This summer Darryn played for a very good DC Warriors 16U Grassroots team & averaged 12 points & 6 assists. He works on his game year round & this summer he is working out at Flowers HS. Darryn is currently working on his 3 point shooting & honing his shot mechanics. Additionally, he has a total body strength & conditioning program in which Darryn uses weights & various machines. Additionally,Darryn works on the Vertimax and performs plyos which have helped with his explosion & overall athleticism.
Thru his hard work, Darryn has seen improvements defensively & adds,”My confidence has improved since I have gotten stronger, quicker overall & laterally. My overall strength & conditioning is helping me tremendously. I have become a good defender who can apply tough on ball full court defense full court or in the half court. I usually come up with several steals per game from the player I am guarding, help-side defense or the passing lanes.”
In the classroom Darryn maintains a solid 3.0 GPA & he is currently interested in Engineering & Accounting as potential majors in colleges. Darryn has a very close knit family & his mother, father, grandmother & uncle are his role models & provide great support & mentor ship. CH Flowers begins the school year on September 6 & Darryn will be playing in fall leagues until preseason practice begins. Flowers is an up & coming team who will we believe will in the top half of Prince Georges 4A basketball & challenge for Regional Title.
