Prospect Profile: Jayce Archambault 2018)
Jayce Archambault wasn’t very familiar with a lot of the guys he’d be playing with during the grassroots season. His teammates weren’t too familiar with him either. Fortunately for both sides, he’s an easy player to play with.
Archambault spent the spring and summer playing with ECI Prospects, playing a big part for arguably the top grassroots team in the Dakotas.
“I thought it went great,” said Archambault. “We played pretty well together for the most part. I didn’t have a great deal of familiarity with a lot of the guys. We’re just out there playing ball together though so it’s always a great time.”
ECI Prospects played a tough schedule, traveling all around the midwest and squaring off with a lot of the top teams in Minnesota and South Dakota in particular. The opportunity to play against elite competition was a big draw for Archambault.
“That’s one of the best parts about it,” said Archambault. “You don’t always get to see the kind of talent on one court during the season like you do during the summer.”
The 6-foot-3 swingman is hoping to draw some college interest heading into his senior season.
Archambault stuffed the stat sheet for a very good Solen team last season, averaging 12 points, five rebounds, six assists and three steals. His defense is perhaps his strongest attribute as he’ll oftentimes take the challenge of defending the opposing team’s top scorers.
“I love to play defense,” said Archambault. “I want to guard the opposing team’s best players. I could score the ball a little better but I run in transition and can know down open shots. My role has been to do a little bit of everything in the past and I think my role will be to score more this coming year.”
