Prep Spotlight: EJ Porter (2018)
Porter 6’3 combo guard plays at Florence Christian. Porter averaged 15 ppg, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds last year for the Eagles. Porter is the son of the Francis Marion University women coach Jerri Porter. Porter has played two years for the Eagles.
Porter played his freshman year at Grace Christian Academy in Powder Springs, GA. Porter averaged 13 points at Grace Christian Academy.
How was your season at Florence Christain last year?
It went well. We didn’t have the team success I was hoping for, and individually I felt like I had a really good year.
What is your exceptions for next season at Florence Christian?
I expect us to definitely be competitive no matter who we play. I am really focused on being a leader for the team this season.
How was AAU this season?
Porter played in a few tournaments for Big Shots Elite SC. It was decent. I didn’t play as well as I was hoping but getting to play with other very talented players was fun.
What awards and accomplished did you receive this year?
Porter was named SCISA All-Region, SCISA All-Tournament, SCISA All-Star Game, and offensive player of the year for Florence Christian Eagles.
What skills can help you at the next level?
My shooting, passing, and IQ will definitely help me at the next level.
What skills do you need to work on the next level?
I need to work on my aggressiveness, on ball defense, and getting more physical strength.

Porter will be playing next month at the Prep Hoops 250 Expo in Myrtle Beach, SC on Sunday September 17.
