Notebook: Indianapolis Elite Camp – Out of State Prospects
INDIANAPOLIS, IN | This weekend gave us a look at two major colleges in the state of Indiana at their Elite Camps. The University of Indianapolis was held on Sunday and brought in a ton of talent including a lot of out-of-state players. Here is our look at those standouts from the guard spots from the camp.
Gunner Wilder – 6’2 SG – 2018 – Cameron (WI)
Gunner is a tall guard with some savvy to him. He is pretty tough with the ball in his hands and likes to create contact at the rim. Good handles and can help on the ball a bit. Good jumper and has a veteran presence to him. Originally from Fishers/Noblesville area before moving up north.
Zeke Grier – 6’1 PG – 2020 – Lexington Christian (KY)
Zeke is a tough, hard-nosed lead guard with good size and great pace. Liked when he was able to play a bit uptempo. He has some stuff to him and plays like a much more mature guard. Didn’t score it a ton but really did well driving. Was looking to create and had success. Guy to watch out of the area for the next few years.
Bailey Dee – 6’0 PG – 2018 – Champaign Central (IL)
Bailey is a big, tough guard that was looking to get buckets all day long. He was pretty explosive on the offensive side of the ball for some stretches. Loves to pull-up quick in transition for a three. Creative off the bounce and is physical when driving, drawing a ton of contact.
Dondre Palmer – 6’4 SF – 2018 – Pickerington North (OH)
Dondre is a bouncy, undersized wing that plays with a lot of energy. He was good with the ball in his hands as he likes to rebound the ball and start the break. In transition, he can make plays either as a scorer or a passer. Athletic wing that can do all of those things you need him to do including rebounding.
Cade Chitty – 6’7 PF – 2018 – Judah Christian (IL)
Cade is a a long, lean forward who did pretty well as a stretch on the wing. He has good size and length and for his height, he can handle the ball really well. Just not able to get into the lane cleanly yet. Can shoot it a bit. Didn’t see too much of a post-up game but there is enough there to work with.
Jared Coomer – 6’7 PF – 2018 – Barren County (KY)
Comer is a big, long forward who really showed the ability to stretch the floor. Was a really good shooter from distance. Isn’t super mobile but good enough that he can create along the wing a bit. Will play inside as well and has enough length to score over the top at times.
