Maryland Summer Elite All Star game: 10 Best
July 31, Jewish Day School, Rockville, MD. Last night marked the conclusion of the Maryland Elite Summer League which began on June 5, with the annual All Star Game. Jewish Day School Head Coach & Maryland Elite Grassroots Head Coach David K McCloud & Maryland Elite Vice President & Richard Montgomery HS Assistant Coach Azhar Shamsudeen ran the Maryland Elite Summer Varsity & JV League. Tonight’s entertaining game was highlighted by Spring HS 6’4″ WG Matthew Balanc who scored 50 points and may have had 10 dunks. However, Team Blue Sploosh defeated Team Red Bunnies 103-101 as Bullis HS, 6’3″, WG Nendah Tarke drove to the basket and scored the game wining basket with 2 seconds remaining. There were many excellent players in the game and we have listed the 2 rosters further below.
Team Blue Sploosh 103, team Red Bunnies 101 final
1. Game MVP: #1 Matthew Balanc, 6’4″, CG, 2018. Springbrook Blue Devils HS. Silver Spring, MD.
Matthew scored 50 points shooting a very high FG% and he scored off the dribble pull ups, 3 pointers, & with rim attacking dunks. He also played very solid defense and was a very good facilitator. Matthew now has 10 plus D1 offers on the table which include mid majors. However, Georgetown & other high majors are looking at Matthew showing heavy interest. We believe Matthew is on the brink of becoming a high major recruit, stay tuned.
2. Best Stock Riser: #6 Nendah Tarke, 6’3″, WG, 2019. Bullis HS.
Nendah is poised for a breakout year at Bullis HS & is a D1 recruit. The very athletic wing can score on 3 levels and defend. Tonight Nendah totaled 19 points & hit the game winner with 2 seconds remaining for Team Spoosh Blue. He plays with great poise & has a very high basketball IQ. If we had to pick an NBA player who Nendah reminds us of, off the top of our head we will go with James Harden.
3. Best Ball Handler: Delaino Jessup, 6’01/2″, PG, 2018. Springbrook HS.
Delaino concluded an excellent summer with a very solid All Star game & displayed his handle which is rapidly improving. He will be one of the best PGs in MOCO basketball this year & some think he will be #1. Delaino is moving towards becoming a D1 player. He is very tough, has great energy with a high basketball IQ.
4. Best Facilitator: #12 TJ Williams, 6’4″, WF/WG, 2018. Northwest HS.
TJ is a very versatile wing who can score inside/out & rebound. Tonight he had a least 6 assists & played an excellent floor game. TJ is capable of scoring in bunches and can protect the rim. Many colleges are interested in TJ & we will have a Recruiting Report for him within a week.
5. Best All Around: #3 Daryn Alexander, 6’1″, CG, 2018. Richard Montgomery HS.
Daryn is very unselfish CG who can go on a scoring binge. He can score from anywhere on the court and has good defensive skills. Without question Daryn is good enough to play in college and we will have a Recruiting Report for Daryn this week. He scored 9 points last night & had numerous assists.
5b. Best All Around: #8 Collin Schlee, 6’2″ CG, 2019. Oakdale HS.
Collin won MVP of the MD Elite Summer Championship Game last week. He can play 3 positions on the court, score from all 3 levels and has very high basketball IQ. Collin scored 16 points last night with some nice assists & steals.
6. Most Consistent: #13 Daniel Dorsey, 6’3″ WG, 2108. Quince Orchard Cougars HS.
Daniel is the lone returning starter from a great QO team that reached the MD 4A State finals. He can play multiple positions and has a very lean but very strong build at 200 pounds. Daniel has very nice shot from the outside and score at the rim. He is very consistent & does not make errors. Daniel will play in college and we will have a Recruiting Report for Daniel this week.
7a. Best Defenders: #1 Matthew Balanc, 6’4″, CG, 2018. Springbrook HS. Silver Spring, MD.
Matthew has a great wingspan and an explosive vertical and he uses both abilities on defense. He can snatch rebounds, make deflections and get steals. In our opinion Matthew could be the best player in MOCO this coming season.
7b.Best Defenders: #6 Nendah Tarke, 6’3″, WG, 2019. Bullis HS , Potomac MD.
Nendah can play very strong defense and shut down his man. He plays with great energy and knows how to get position & seal off the passing lanes.
8. Most Underrated : #9 Papito Kalabu, 6’5″, WF/WG, 2019. Watkins Mill HS.
This was our 1st time seeing Papito and we really like his skill-set & high basketball IQ. He can score on all 3 levels and facilitate. We will have a Recruiting Report for Papito by next week.
9a. Best Floor Generals: #2 Cameron Carter, 5’9″ PG/CG, 2018. Good Counsel HS.
Cameron is very strong and can get in the lane to score or dish. His shot mechanics are very good and his handle is excellent. He plays very tough D & is very athletic. We like him a lot as a college prospect and we will write a Recruiting Report for Cameron very soon.
9b. Best Floor Generals:#1 Maurice Stephan Hamilton II, 5’8″, PG, Clarksburg HS.
Stephan is a excellent ball handler, facilitator and very athletic. He will be one of best PGs in MOCO this year and is an excellent prospect at the next level. Stephan totaled 7 points last night & made some great passes. We recently wrote a Recruiting Report for Stephan see below:
10. Play of the Game: #6 Nendah Tarke, 6’3″, WG, 2019. Bullis HS. Potomac MD.
Nendah threw down a great dunk off the dribble over a defender last night for the Play of the Game
Overtime:
Best Spot Up Shooter: #11 Joey Squeri, 6’3″, WG, 2018. Walt Whitman HS.
Joey scored 12 points and he showed excellent consistency on his spot up shooting. We will be writing a Recruiting Report for Joey next week.

Best Point Forward :#7 Cameron Rucker, 6’6.5″, CF, 2018. Springbrook HS.
Cameron totaled 10 points is an excellent college prospect who can score from all 3 levels. He is in essence a point forward, please read our recent Recruiting Report for Cameron below:

#1 Maurice Stephan Hamilton II, 5’8″, PG, Clarksburg Coyotes HS. Clarksburg, MD.
#2 Mason Green, 6’1″, CG, Damascus Hornets HS. Damascus, MD.
Mason shows great range up to to 30 feet with a great ability to shoot off the dribble. We will have Report for Mason this month.
#3 Tim Hawkins, 6’1″, CG, Robert E Blake Bengals HS. Silver Spring, MD.
Tim is an intriguing prospect and is currently very thin, but has some very good basketball skills. We will have a Recruiting Report for Tim this month.
# 4 Cameron Ashby, 5’10”, PG, 2019. Einstein Titans HS. Kensington, MD.
Cameron made some excellent passes tonight and hit a 3 pointer with his excellent shot mechanics. We have not seen much of Cameron, but we will provice a Report for him this month. We are very impressed with Cameron’s skill-set.
#5 JT Tisdell, 5’11”, PG, 2018. Magruder Colonels HS. Rockville, MD.
We have not seen a lot of JT but he is very impressive with an excl lent jump shot and passing skills. We will have a Recruiting Report for JT and his Magruder HS back-court teammate Justin Hawkins in the next week. Both players are excellent college prospects.

Tyriel is a true PG with a very nice handle who has very nice shot and played varsity last season as true freshmen for Walkersville HS. We are very impressed with his skills & basketball IQ and we will write a Recruiting Report for Tyriel this month
#6 JP DeLorenzo , 6’2″ G/SF,2018. Oakdale Bears HS.Ijamsville, MD.
JP can score from all 3 levels & can facilitate off the dribble. He was awarded best rim attacker in Oakdale HS win over Springrook for the MD Elite Championship & totaled 17 points. We will have a Recruiting Report for JP next week and in our opinion he is a college prospect.

Markel scored 6 points tonight and while he is a very good basketball prospect, Markel is an excellent QB in football. There is a possibility he could play both sports in college. We will have Recruiting Report for Markel very soon.
