Recruiting Report: Deson Flood (2018)
"I am mainly a drive first type of guy, but i love the mid range and I also will take you baseline. Its all hustle on defense making sure my man does not score, grabbing every rebound, and put back for a dunk!" Flood stated. "On the court or even on the bench a lot of people may not see the way I pick my teammates up. Encouraging them to keep playing hard and focused on the next play."
One thing we really like about Flood is that he involves himself within the flow of the game, and doesn't command any play calls. He finds ways to produce no matter what. Flood's versatility on both ends of the floor is very evident. He can defend almost any position."The most improvement I have made in the last 12 months is ball handling. Before, I was never comfortable bringing the ball up the court, starting an offense, or even catching it on the wing and attacking all the way to the rim. I have also improved on extending my range and even my help side defense," Flood explained. "The next part of my game that i need to work on is making my weaknesses stronger, for example attacking with my off hand. I also need to work on creating more more space to get my shot off and also being able to finish consistently at the rim."
As a junior, Flood admittedly grew a lot in his first year at Good Counsel. He's acclimating well since his transfer from Springbrook, and has accumulated a 3.1 GPA. Howard, Army West point, and Navy have each offered Flood, and Toledo is expressing interest. Flood should get plenty of run with the DC Warriors this month, and is likely see more schools get involved in his recruitment. What can Flood bring to a college program?
