KC: Illinois 2020 All-Tournament Team
PrepHoopsIllinois was in attendance at the Sunflower Showcase and Jayhawk Invitational this past week in Kansas City. Here are our 2020 Illinois All-Tournament Teams from the event based on the games we personally evaluated.
PG Reggie Strong (Young & Reckless 15U)
Huge fan of this Farragut point guard! He ranks in the 10 overall in the 2020 class for a reason. The angular point guard is jet quick with the ball. He gets literally anywhere he wants whenever he wants! Pushes tempo in the open floor and has the vision to find teammates for buckets. Extremely slick passer. Can get to the rim to score on his own too. Elite on ball defender with his quickness and anticipation. D1 prospect no question!
PG Alex Wood (Young & Reckless 15U)
Wood is a quick and shifty guard from Normal U-High. He is extremely quick off the bounce and knows how to get in the lane with his ball handling and speed. High basketball IQ and is always in control of the game. Mixes in threes to his repertoire as well.
SG Keshawn Williams (Young & Reckless 15U)
Williams is a wiry and slick wing that is best in the transition game. He is able to use his athleticism and speed to finish or get to the charity stripe. Finished through contact in the games we saw. Upside on both ends of the floor.
SF Lamontay Daughtery (Brad Beal Elite 15U)
Daughtery is one of the premier prospects in the 2020 class. Currently sitting at #3 he played with the most intensity we had seen out of him in his young career. The Duquoin small forward got on the glass at a high rate for a couple put backs. His best plays were a pair where he grabbed defensive rebounds, went coast to coast through traffic, and converted at the hoop. Several smooth takes to the basket off the bounce. High-major potential.
C Yves Nkomba (KC Pacers 15U)
Nkomba is a 6’10” center out of La Salette Academy in central Illinois. Not a lot of people know about this big man yet, but he has been on our radar since the spring. Great size and physical tools. Still raw and learning the game, but he plays hard. Rebounds well and has a lot of mobility for his size. Most of his offensive production is getting on the glass for put backs. Like the developmental upside here a lot!
