JULY STOCK RISERS: Wings (2018)
Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at who raised their stock during the July NCAA evaluation periods.
JULY STOCK RISERS: Wings (2018)
Israel Barnes, 6’5, SF/SG, 2018, Wichita Southeast (Kan.) MoKan Elite
It wasn’t long ago that Barnes held just a handful on offers, but that has changed after a strong run with MoKan Elite in the EYBL and at Peach Jam. Barnes is an athletic wing player who has the ability to guard multiple positions at a high level and is a fierce competitor. He most recently picked up an offer from UAB and adds it to offers from Valparaiso, Texas Tech, Penn, Tulsa, Weber State and Drake.
Eric Batson, 6’6, SF, 2018, Blue Valley North (Kan.) KC Spurs White
One of the state’s more intriguing prospect, Batson has raised his stock after mostly playing a reserve role a year ago off the bench for a talented BVN squad. He has terrific size with a big frame, good athleticism and a diverse skill set. He can handle the ball, play a point forward and has an improving outside shooting stroke.
Javin Dixon, 6’5, F, 2018, Wichita Northwest (Kan.) Kansas Select
A versatile player, Dixon can defend in the paint or on the wing, runs the floor well and can step out and play on the wing. He put together a strong season competing with Kansas Select, a squad that featured several talented players this summer. He put together a strong junior season last year for Wichita Northwest, averaging 11.8 points per game and a team-high 7.7 rebounds.
Ben Pyle, 6’7, F, 2018, McPherson (Kan.) Kansas Select
Pyle is a smooth wing player who can get on the boards, handle the ball and stroke the 3. He helped lead McPherson to a Class 4A I state championship and picked up his first D1 offer from Abilene Christian on April 30 and most recently added an offer from Western Illinois on Aug. 1.
Jack Schoemann, 6’7, SF, 2018, Shawnee Mission East (Kan.) MoKan Select
Might be the bigger riser in the offseason in the entire state as he has picked up NCAA Division I offers from Northern Colorado and UTEP. He is a long, rangy wing player who can handle the ball a little, is good on the boards and has a terrific left handed 3-point stroke. He still needs to get stronger, but possess a long, lean frame and good agility.
Mitchell Woodward, 6’3, SF, 2018, Kapaun Mt Carmel (Kan.) Wichita Padres
Woodward is a strong, physical player who plays much bigger than his listed height. He is a knock down perimeter shooter who handles the ball well and creates plays.
