JULY STOCK RISERS: Shooting Guards (2019)
Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at who raised their stock during the July NCAA evaluation periods.
JULY STOCK RISERS: Shooting Guards (2019)
Christian Braun, 6’4, SG, 2019, Blue Valley Northwest (Kan.) MoKan Elite
After spending much of his sophomore season at BVNW playing a reserve role for his high school team, Braun had a breakout performance during the spring for MoKan Elite. He has a smooth 3-point shooting stroke to go along with good size and length and has become a versatile offensive player capable of putting the ball on the floor.
Levi Braun, 6’3, SG/PG, 2019, Topeka Hayden (SSA Elite)
One of several extremely talented players returning this season for Hayden, Braun is coming off a terrific season for SSA Elite in which he spent much of the time controlling the point guard duties. He plays with good pace, changes things up and can score at all three levels. He’ll have to adjust to playing off the ball this season at Hayden but we look for him to have a big junior season.
AJ Dickerson, 6’3, SG, 2019, Junction City (SSA Elite)
Dickerson is one of the state’s most improved players after putting together a terrific offseason with SSA Elite. He has good size and strength and a terrific skill set. He is a shot maker, capable of taking and making tough, contested shots. Can shoot the 3 and pull-up off the bounce for mid-range stuff as well.
D’Monte Gaw, 6’2, SG, 2019, Schlagle (Team Rush)
One of the better guards in the Kansas City area in the 2019 class, Gaw is a smooth ballhandler who is terrific at creating offense. He is tough to contain off the bounce and gets all the way to the bucket. Needs to continue to improve his outside shooting to take his game to the next level, but he is a player to watch this upcoming season.
Elijah Williams, 6’3, SG, 2019, Olathe North (Kan.) KC Team Rush
Williams is a throw back of sorts for a guard with an old-school type game. He is a strong physical guard that is able to carve out space and get to the basket and is a terrific individual defender and rebounder. Look for him to have a breakout type season for Olathe North.
