Same Face, New Place (Part 4)
In anticipation of the upcoming high school season, we will be taking a closer look at various teams and players throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia. In this edition we’ll be covering transfers, and the type of impact we believe each player could make with their new team.
AMIR NESBITT | VIRGINIA ACADEMY ’20
Amir Nesbitt, a talented guard that can do a bit of everything, will bolster a very deep back court for Head Coach Chris Rhone at Virginia Academy. The rising sophomore, who was named to the 16U Virgin Islands National Team this summer, can defend, shoots it well from the perimeter, and has a nice overall feel for the game.
JOSH ODURO | PAUL VI ’19
Josh Oduro will bring his size and versatile to a Paul VI squad that needed more depth in their front court. At 6’7, Oduro works hard on the glass, and can be disruptive as a rim protector.
COLIN SMALLS | ST. ANDREW’S ’20
After a very productive summer on the AAU circuit with Team Durant, Colin Smalls has transferred from Wise to St. Andrew’s, where he is expected to play a key role in the backcourt for Head Coach Kevin Jones. Look for the rising sophomore to step in right away and play meaningful minutes.
DIMINGUS STEVENS | WOODROW WILSON ’20
Considered one of the best shooters in the DC Metro Area, Dimingus Stevens will bring a high basketball IQ, floor spacing, and formidable size on the wing at 6’5. The rising sophomore should have plenty of room to operate, as teams will be concerned with keeping the dynamic back court of Jay Heath and Ayinde Hikim out of the lane.
MICHAEL SUMNER JR. | ST. MARY’S RYKEN ’20
Michael Sumner Jr. is a candidate to team up alongside BC commit Wynston Tabbs in the starting back court for Ryken, and should learn a lot during his first year in the WCAC. The standout guard is one of the very best prospects to come from the DC Premier program.
