CLASS OF 2018 STOCK RISERS
As the class of 2017 makes there way out of high school and onto the next phase of their lives academically and athletically we make way for a new bread of stars. The class of 2018 is already showing some promise with some heavy hitters who put there skills on display this summer with some monster performances. Heading into there senior year season, these guys look to become more of an intricate part of their respected high school teams.
Lincoln High School’s 6-foot-1 point guard Lezjon Bonds had a huge showing in the Oregon Premier Showcase. His stock is rising and rising fast. Against some of the most Elite players on the floor he is able to still show dominance. I look forward to seeing his growth in the next year and into his college career.
Underrated could be an understatement. Bonds possesses great pace, understanding of the game and a knack for making the right plays time and time again. Was dominant this past weekend in Oregon. Got to the rim at will, spread the wealth at a high level and did a great job keeping opposing guards in front of him defensively. Knocked down shots in transition and executed well in pick and roll. His recruitment should trend up sooner than later.
Malik Coats is an impressive young scoring wing/forward. The 6’5 Team Washington Elite 2018 prospect just has a knack for getting buckets. He is a sound perimeter shooter with a clean looking stroke from three. Also had a nice shot fake where he let his man fly by and then drilled a pull up jumper. Malik will either need to develop point guard skills to become a D1 player, but early in the process he is worth monitoring. Last year Malik was awarded First Team 2A SPSL All League honors and has been building his resume from then.
Class of 2018 6’3 wing Maalik Siegel of NW PROSPECTS has had a huge summer so far and is a huge advocate of the term, “HARD WORK PAYS OFF.”
Maalik is a combo guard who flourishes in big moments in big games. He has a HIGH IQ of the game and can visual a play prior to it happening. A senior next year the Indians will need him to take the reigns and be that go to guy. Teams have already started to add him on their target list of players to watch out for. With a deadly 3 point shot and Jason Kidd like court vision, this young man is ready to take his senior and Washington by storm.
Class of 2018 6’0 guard Eddie Turner III is turning heads this summer stock is rising each game.
Eddie Tuner is one of the more dynamic scorers in the Class of 2018. From the looks of his game at the showcase, he has been working on his jumper from deep and his court awareness. He knocked down the long ball with consistency throughout the day. He also showed his passing skills with ball-screen action. Eddie has added strength to his frame which allows him to finish better in around the basket.
July is a huge month for incoming seniors. It is usually the last chance for most colleges to see them play and impress. With an already impressive resume of some of the biggest D1 programs around, Riley isn’t satisfied until he has proven that even though he is taller than most opposing players. He is still a force to be reckoned with.
Standing 7 feet 3 inches, Class of 2018 center Riley Sorn is the tallest basketball player in the state of Washington. He has a great defensive presence, meeting lay ups and dunks at the rim for blocked shots. With his height and length alone, it will make shots harder for opposing player.
