Big Day for Augustana
Today the Augustana Vikings bolstered their future with the addition of two local standouts: AJ Plitzuweit of Vermillion and Dylan LeBrun of Flandreau, both are top five player prospects in the state of South Dakota.
At about a quarter to seven o’clock first Plitzuweit and then LeBrun tweeted out their commitments letting the state of South Dakota know their college intentions. AJ and Dylan both made their decisions and talked to other coaching staffs earlier in the week and then this evening announced their commitments to all their followers.
The 6-foot-2 Plitzuweit averaged 23.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and just under two steals per game as a junior. He had also received a scholarship offer from North Dakota State after attending their camp and the NDSU staff followed him to all the Dakota Schooler games in July. Also there was the staff from the Vikings and they won the big prize on Wednesday when AJ said the following:
“I am deeply blessed and grateful to announce that I will be continuing my basketball career at Augustana University after high school. Thank you to all of those people that helped make this dream come true for me. A special thanks to all of my coaches, family, loved ones, and friends that have stuck by my side and have helped my grow as a basketball player and person. Another thanks to all of the coaches that have recruited me and to the Augustana staff that has been there since day (one). Now let’s do something special!”
Moments later Dylan LeBrun helped make the Augustana class special by posting a photo stating “committed” along with a bible verse. LeBrun was offered by Augustana over a year ago and they were the long time favorite to land Dylan. LeBrun had a solid spring with the Pentagon National Team before being hurt and missing time in July.
The 6-foot-6 LeBrun averaged 23 points, nine rebounds, five assists, 1.5 steals, and two blocks per game as a junior.
