Around the State : Spartanburg County Underclassmen Part 2
Prep Hoops takes a look at Spartanburg County Underclassmen Part 2 in this article.
Myles Tate (2020) – Dorman HS (pictured on front)
Tate has been a fixture on the varsity since his 8th grade year. Bret Swanson – Swanny’s Roundball Review first saw Tate play at the Shootout by the Sea Holiday Tourney in North Myrtle Beach when he was a 8th grader. Tate connected on 5 three pointers that day.
Tate averaged 8.7 ppg last season for the 5A State Champion Cavaliers. Tate played AAU this summer with Team Loaded North Carolina.
P.J. Hall (2020) – Dorman HS
Hall was a pleasant surprise this past July. Hall 6’7 held his own with his ability to face-up and knock down shots from 18-20 feet comfortably. Hall keeps the ball up high and can really seal in the post. Hall has great footwork and better yet attitude on the floor.
Hall should see some quality minutes this season for the Cavaliers. Hall played AAU with Upward Stars Upstate White 15U. Tate and Hall give Dorman HS Head Coach Thomas Ryan a lot of hope for a bright future.
Jayden Byrd (2020) – High Point Academy (Spartanburg)
Byrd plays at High Point Academy a charter school that’s located off Interstate 26 in north end of Spartanburg. Byrd averaged 19.7 ppg last season for the Grizzlies. Byrd ran AAU with the Carolina Chargers this past AAU season. Byrd looks to score the ball from all over the floor. Byrd showed a nice mid-range game and has the ability to slash it to the rack.
Luke Gilsdorf (2020) – Spartanburg HS
Gilsdorf 6’1 left-handed guard has the ability to knock down shots all over the floor. Gilsdorf teamed up with Byrd on the AAU Circuit with the Carolina Chargers. Gilsdorf first reported to Prep Hoops he was heading to Dorman but has had a change of heart and will attend Spartanburg HS this coming season.
Drayton Benjamin (2020) – Spartanburg HS
Benjamin 6’4 has a very bright future for the Vikings. Benjamin has good length and can play with his back to the basket. Benjamin runs the floor very well. Benjamin also played with the Carolina Chargers on the AAU Circuit.
Prep Hoops first saw the Carolina Chargers back in May at the Upward Star Center.
