Around the State : Cherokee County
Prep Hoops SC takes a trip to Cherokee County in the Upstate. Plenty of talent over the years has come out of here including Arizona “AZ” Reid (High Point), Sidney Rice (South Carolina/NFL) and LJ Peak (Georgetown) to name just a few. The Burial Ground at Gaffney HS is truly a great place to watch a basketball in the Palmetto State.
Cherokee County only has 2 high schools in Gaffney HS and Blacksburg HS.
Sadarius Bowser (2018) – Gaffney HS
Bowser had a good summer with the South Carolina Supreme on the AAU Circuit. Bowser 6’8 picked up scholarship offers from Buffalo, Gardner Webb, Charleston Southern, Tusculum (TN) and Coker College (SC). Tusculum and Coker are both NCAA D2 schools.
Bowser runs the floor well and finishes inside the paint. Bowser has really improved his footwork.
Ladarrius Foster (2018) – Gaffney HS (pictured on front)
Foster was a pleasant surprise at the Baden I-85 Circuit Finals this July with his play. Foster was a work horse inside the paint for his Upward Stars Upstate squad. Foster played for former North Carolina Tar Heel Ed Geth. Foster was a menace inside the paint and finish on the offensive end of the floor and rebounded on both ends.
Bradley Childers (2018) – Gaffney HS
Childers a combo guard showed his ability to knock down shots on the perimeter. Childers seems to be the leader on this squad. Childers can attack the basket from the top of the key and finish on the left-side of the basket
Kingston Johnson (2018) – Gaffney HS
Johnson 6’6 is a raw athlete that still seems to be picking up the game. Johnson will be a role guy on this Indians rosters this season.
Nick Agapion (2018) – Gaffney HS
Agapion a shooter should see more minutes this season for the Indians. Agapion really showed out well in July at the Baden I-85 Circuit Finals in Spartanburg.
Stan Ellis (2020) – Gaffney HS
Ellis is still bit of a mystery to us here at Prep Hoops. Ellis a wide receiver wasn’t seen by the Prep Hoops staff last season on the varsity roster or on the AAU circuit this spring and summer.
Elijah Rodgers (2018) – Blacksburg HS
Rodgers has already committed to Indiana University for football. Rodgers averaged 12 ppg and 9 rebounds last season for the Wildcats. Rodgers will be a defensive back it looks likes in college.
