Arizona 2020 Rankings: Top Shooters
The class of 2020 is known for its versatility. However, there are a number of prospects who can flat out fill it up. Below are some of the top shooters in to watch for the class of 2020.
2020 Rankings: Top Shooters
Jordan Wollagk 5’10 SG Mesquite
Wollagk was able to knock down almost a 3 per game despite being a freshman on a star studded Mesquite team. He has a good release and gets it off quick. With Dusell leaving for Chaparral, Wollagk will most likely play a bigger role and his shooting will be much needed.
Isaac Monroe 5’10 PG Peoria
Monroe averaged a little over 2 three pointers per game despite averaging 11 points per game. Further, Monroe, even though he is young, has proven that he can shoot the basketball with anyone in this class. Monroe is not only one of the top shooting freshman, but he might be one of the top shooters in all of 4A
Cooper Burbank 5’11 PG Chinle
Burbank shot the basketball from deep at a high level this past season. He is efficient and takes good shots. He should have a bigger role in this upcoming season. However, I would not expect his shooting percentages to go down. He can flat out shoot the basketball.
Myles Gantt 5’10 PG Cholla
Gantt was not used much as a shooter this past season. In fact, he did most of his scoring inside the 3. With that said, Gantt shot the basketball 12-19, according to maxpreps, from 3. He is a more than capable shooter who can let it fly with the best of them. His well balanced game leads me to believe that he will have a big season this year.
Nico Mannion 6’0 PG Pinnacle
Mannion’s shooting abilities have been well documented. He can do it off of the dribble as well as off of the pass. Further, he moves well without the basketball and gets his feet set well. Mannion is a top tier scorer and is more than just a shooter. However, he has put a lot of time into his craft and is the best shooter in this class.
Xavier Dusell 6’3 PG/SG Chaparral
Dusell prefers to shoot it off of the dribble and has excelled in club ball with shooting it off of on ball screens. With that said, he is a capable shooter off of the catch. Dusell wants the basketball in his hands and prefers to create instead of having others create for him. He is one of few shooters in this class that can create off of the dribble and knock it down consistently.
Dalen Terry 6’4 PG Corona Del Sol
Terry has worked very hard recently to improve his ability to shoot the basketball off of the dribble. He has had a lot of success. Further, his length enables him to get his shot off over the vast majority of one and two guards. Terry was a solid shooter in catch and shoot situations last year. However, it is safe to assume that he will transition to more of a ball dominant role next season.
Eric Blackwell 6’0 PG Corona Del Sol
Blackwell, who will share the backcourt with Terry, is also a more than capable shooter. He shot it a little below 30% from 3 last year. With that said, Blackwell shot it nearly 80% from the foul line and shot it well inside the 3. With that said, in more ball dominant roles, he has shown an ability to shoot it at a higher rate. As he gets more and more comfortable with the pace of the game and becomes more of a focal point the offense, the better shooter he will be at the varsity level.
Dominic Gonzalez 6’3 PG/SG Ironwood
Gonzalez made nearly 30 3s last year while shooting it 38%. His length enabled to him to get his shot off well. However, despite a nice, consistent looking shot, the speed of the shot was concerning. With that said, Gonzalez has improved the speed of his shot and continues to shoot it at a high level. In addition to being a solid shooter from 3, he has a consistent mid-range jumper and has nice elevation on the shot.
