Arizona 2020 Rankings: Top Posts
Bigs typically take more time to develop. Thus, it is usually a game of wait and see in order to determine who is going to blossom. Further, more expectations have been placed on posts as versatility is the name of the game. With that said, the following big man have already made an impression despite being big men. Below are the top posts for the class of 2020.
2020 Rankings: Top Posts
Jason Harris Jason Harris 6'7" | PF Higley | 2020 State #242 Nation AZ 6’8 PF/C Higley (Splash City)
Harris is a phenomenal athlete with huge upside. He is well rounded and able to make an impact in an array of ways. For Desert Ridge, Harris was one of the leaders in rebounds and points despite being a freshman. With Higley, it is safe to say that Harris’ production and expectations will sky rocket.
Tosh Baker 6’8 PF/C Pinnacle (Splash City)
Baker is primarily a back to the basket big at this point. He has well a well documented soft touch. Further, he has good footwork and an array of back to the basket moves. With that said, he is putting a lot of effort into developing more versatility to his game. He is a consistent shooter from 15 feet and in. Also, he has improved his handle greatly. Baker is in a log jam at a school with a lot of talent. However, I would not be surprised in the least if he is able to carve out a role on the varsity roster.
Dre Henry 6’6 PF/C Mountain Pointe (Team Harden)
Henry’s aggression is currently being utilized on the football field at Mountain Pointe. However, his aggression is what makes him such an impact prospect on the floor. He plays with a chip on his shoulder. At times, his physical style reminds views of Shaq. Although he is able to bully his way into rebounds and buckets, he will need to continue to work on his endurance and footwork to take the next step.
Hunter Ruck Hunter Ruck 6'9" | PF Rancho Solano Prep | 2020 State #484 Nation AZ 6’7 C Rancho Solano (Team Harden)
I have made mention in the past of Ruck’s superior fundamentals. He has great footwork on the block and can finish with an array of moves. He prefers to use his right hand hook shot. If Ruck is able to continue to improve his athleticism and physicality, he will have a lot of potential suitors due to his skill set. Ruck should be primed for a huge season after spending this past club season playing 16U on the adidas Gauntlet.
Anthony Garza Anthony Garza 6'7" | PF Phhoenix Prep Post Grad | 2021 State AZ 6’7 PF/C Shadow Ridge (PowerHouse)
Garza is a super skilled big man with a lot of upside. He has already demonstrated an ability to stretch the floor. However, he has worked relentlessly this off-season to develop a more consistent 15 and out jumper. Garza has a high ceiling and will play on a high school roster that will expect him to demonstrate what he can do early and often. In order for Shadow Ridge to reach their potential, he will need to play like the big man that many envision he will become.
