Team Preview: Team Zona 17U Maroon
In addition to having one of the best shooters in the state on their 17U black roster, Team Zona has a solid Maroon team. In fact, they arguably have the best under the radar prospects in the entire state. This group has a lot of athleticism and can score the basketball with any club team in the state.
Although they do not have a true big, they have a lot of size and athleticism on the court. In fact, the most impressive player on the team might be the littlest. Most people do not take the time to drive out to Maricopa High School. However, they would be pleasantly surprised by the talent of Joshuwan Johnson.
Keep an eye on Team Zona 17U Maroon. They have a well built team and have the potential to make some noise in this last live period.

Team Zona Maroon 17U Watch List
Josh Johnson
Johnson might be the best pound for pound scoring guard in the entire state. In the first round of the state tournament against Deer Valley, he wowed all who were in attendance as Deer Valley tried every scheme they could to get the basketball out of his hands. He is epitome of the adage “It isn’t the size of the dog in the fight, it is the size of the fight in the dog”. Unfortunately, many potential suitors are probably deterred from him due to his height. However, he can score the ball in an array of ways and hits tough shot after tough shot. Defensively, he is a bulldog and keeps with the best of them. Although he gives up length, he has quickness and toughness to make up for it. Johnson is the real deal.
Donovan Reagan
Reagan came on my radar at the end of last year. Needless to say, he has continued to impress me. He brings a lot of length to the wing that cannot be coached. In addition, he has a solid handle and can extend the court with his ability to shoot. He plays with a relentless mentality and is a monster on the glass. His versatility and championship mentality should attract the attention of college coaches. Reagan has plenty of upside and skill.
Darrell and Terrell Handy-Johnson
The Handy-Johnson brothers came to Arizona last year and were huge additions to Maricopa. Playing in one of the best regions in the state, 5A Metro, the brothers were vital parts of the teams success. Both of Darrell and Tarrell bring athleticism and length. Although they are undersized for a 4/5 at the next level, their athleticism assists in bridging the gap. Moreover, Darrell has improved the consistency of his jumper which will aid him in his transition to the next level. If these unsigned seniors are hopeful to find the right opportunity by the end of this live period, they will need to play at a high level.
