Stock Riser Report: Anthony Higgs (2018)
The Perry Hall Gators have become a force in the Baltimore high school basketball scene. Spearheaded by the trio of forwards Anthony Higgs and Laquill Hardnett and the guard play of Tyler Holley, the Gators were crowned the 4A state champions last season.
Higgs name was already on the map during their championship run, but this summer has been big for the 6’8 stretch forward. Prior to the 2016-17 high school season, Higgs was known strictly for his poster dunks and impressive blocks, but his junior campaign displayed his development coming all together. Higgs showed his ability to not only make plays off the dribble, but shoot the three-point shot with efficiency. Doing this created the Gators to become virtually unstoppable along with the other highly-skilled players next to him.
Higgs has had an explosive summer with Team Melo’s 17U on the EYBL Circuit. Most recently, he played well at Peach Jam against top competition in the country and was a standout at the Victor Oladipo Skills Academy held at DeMatha High School.

It doesn’t take much for college coaches to fall in love with what Higgs has to offer. He fits the mold of the modern day big man with his ability to run the floor and shoot from range. With all that being said, he still possesses the valuable perks that an old school big has such as shot blocking ability, a post game with his back to the basket, and can dominate a game on the glass.
Higgs’ hardwork is starting to pay off and college coaches are taking notice. Over the past week, he has picked up four offers from Ole Miss, James Madison, Coastal Carolina, and Coppin State. These schools will be added to his list that already consists of St. Joseph’s, Old Dominion, Kansas State, George Mason, and Massachusetts.
Really impressed with Anthony Higgs tonight. Beast down low and tons of versatility. Mentioned new interest from Butler and Xavier. pic.twitter.com/3yZuKANylC

As the July live period carries on, don’t expect the offers to stop for Higgs. As for the high school season, Higgs, Hardnett, and Holley will look to lead the Gators back to the Xfinity Center to protect their state title.
