Recruiting Report: Xavier Pinson (2018)
St. Patrick’s 2018 point guard Xavier Pinson put his team on his back for stretches of the NY2LA Association regular season and that continued into the playoffs during the first live period. He is a slick and wiry floor general that has a ton of speed. Pushes it in the open floor and has the ability to blow past his defender. Plus passer that sees the floor especially in transition, but is making significant strides in the half court getting others involved. Jump shot is a weapon from mid-range and while streaky from deep he can hit them from beyond the arc. Pinson has asserted himself into the low-major plus and potentially mid-major category.
He spoke about his play during the first live period at the Next Level Invitational.
“It is going good. We have been getting a lot of wins. I am getting better and playing more aggressive. Getting more comfortable with my teammates.”
What areas has he seen the most growth in his game?
“Facilitating and my defense has improved a lot. I like to get up and guard 94 feet.”
The rising senior updated PrepHoopsIllinois on the latest with his recruitment.
“It is good. I have a lot of people showing interest. Same four offers including Chicago State, SIUE, and Western Illinois.”
Buffalo, Wyoming, and Evansville are three schools that were heavily tracking him who he says are showing a lot of interest. Who is making him feel like the biggest priority at this stage?
“Mostly Buffalo and Wyoming.”
We would expect Pinson to land several more offers here in the upcoming weeks.
