Recruiting Report: Seryee Lewis (2020)
Class of 2020 post Seryee Lewis is a 6’7” power forward from Kenwood who is an uber athletic post player. He is a run/jump athlete that is extremely fluid running the floor. Super bouncy four man that can finish above the rim with explosive dunks. Makes quick moves on the interior for scores. Isn’t an overly skilled back to the basket scorer at this stage, but shows potential in that area. He is best scoring on the block right now sealing off his man in the high/low. Excellent mid-range jump shooter that is consistently accurate from 15-18 feet. Shoots it quick and with confidence. Solid rebounder, but could show more toughness against physical post players fighting for balls. Defensively has potential as a shot blocker. Lot of upside here. How consistently his motor runs will have a lot to do with how good Lewis becomes. Has D1 ability for sure.
Lewis chatted with us about his spring.
“My spring has gone good with Young & Reckless. It is a good organization. Coach Stan (Boateng) is a great coach and has made me a better player. Me and my teammates are getting better and we are winning.”
Where has he improved the most in recent months?
“In the spring I fell I have gotten more physical and mentally strong. I wasn’t mentally strong in the beginning, but working with coach Stan and with this team I am getting better.”
Lewis is making a transfer move from his freshman year to sophomore season.
“I transferred from Marist to Kenwood. Kenwood has been real good to me. We are going to have a good season. We are a young team.”
A few colleges have already inquired about the young four man.
“I have heard from several colleges. I have visited DePaul and Northern Illinois. I have heard from Southern Illinois and Cal Poly.”
How was that DePaul visit?
“It was a good visit. It is a good school. They are trying to rebuild their program. They are trying to form relationships with young people in Chicago so they can rebuild their program. They like how I can play on the perimeter and I am not just all in the post.”
NIU also had him on campus.
“NIU said a lot of the same things like DePaul. I can play on the perimeter and play in the post too.”
