Recruiting Report: Sean Cobb (2019)
Checking in at No. 13 in the most recent installment of 2019 prospect rankings, Williamston 6-foot-6 forward Sean Cobb seems on the verge of a recruitment boom this summer.
He received his first D1 offer from Loyola-Marymount (CA) in the spring, and he’s fielded calls or emails from many more; Kent State, Michigan, Michigan State, Duquesne, Cleveland State, Toledo, Central Michigan, Holy Cross and Miami of Ohio are the programs he mentioned in a recent phone interview. .
Cobb mentioned which schools are most frequently in contact right now.
“I’ve gotten letters every few days or so from both Michigan and Michigan State. And Holy Cross and Central Michigan have been sending the most texts, and Toledo too,” said Cobb.
Still, the main objective for the versatile rising junior is to expand his post game out to the perimeter, and ultimately to become a wing player.
“This past month I’ve been getting in the gym every day and getting some shots up, and a lot of ball-handling stuff. I’m trying to transition from a post to a wing,” said Cobb.
“It’s been going well, I’ve been doing a lot better, and have fixed a lot with my shot.”
As a junior with the Hornets, Cobb was good, and averaged 13 points and 7 rebounds per game.
“Rebounding was definitely my strongest suit my sophomore year, but I’m definitely going to try and add shooting into the mix,” he said. “I think my sophomore year went pretty well though.”
Now, he’s playing with one of the Midwest’s best programs, The Family. Last season he was with the Michigan Mustangs.
“The Family have been really accepting of me, and I think I fit in really well with them. They have good bigs and good guards, and I fit right in the middle somewhere in between that. And they have me playing that position, and that’s exactly where I wanted to play,” said Cobb.
“My goals for the summer are to play the best that I can, and hopefully get another few offers on the table — that would be great for me.”
