Recruiting Report: Nick Fulford (2018)
Attention, area D3 and NAIA colleges: you need to know about 6-foot-6 Waconia/Select forward Nick Fulford.
Nick is a quality 2018 front-court prospect with a 3.96 GPA. But, luckily for college programs, high academic rigor is not an absolute must; he only needs good basketball, math and science to keep himself happy.
“I have been in contact with some high academic schools,” Fulford told NHR. “However, it is not a deal breaker if a school isn’t a top academic school. I’ve visited St. John’s and St. Olaf so far. I thought both campuses were really nice. I’m looking for a school that has a competitive basketball program and will also allow me to focus on studying math and science.”
Besides the two schools he has visited, Fulford has also heard from Carleton, Gustavus, Concordia-Moorhead, Saint Mary’s, Buena Vista, Hamline and Augsburg. He wants to visit more campuses when his schedule frees up and as more opportunities arise.
Nick prides himself as a strong shooter inside and around the arc. He also has plenty of experience in the post, defending bigger players. He is working on getting better at protecting the ball.
Interested eyes can view Nick playing for Minnesota Select this month (with Waconia teammate Charlie Gores), a program that has been successful all summer.
“Select is a fantastic program, and this year’s team is probably my favorite team that I’ve been on so far,” he added. “I couldn’t have asked for a better team or coach (Mitch Ohnstad) for my 17U season.”
