Recruiting Report: Mike Joiner (2019)
Mike Joiner, a class of 2019 point guard at Hayfield, is coming out of his shell, and appears set for a breakout junior campaign. He will assume a major role for Hawks Head Coach Carlos Poindexter, and be expected to lead a young group.
“I’m a slasher type point guard who can score, and I have good court vision,” Joiner explained. “My lankiness on defense which allows me to guard any position.”
Hayfield loses significant production from their seniors, and is looking for players to step up. Joiner is expected to be one of the most improved players on the team, and his production should show that.
“My jump shot has improved,” said Joiner, who hit four threes in a recent Summer League Game vs. Flint Hill. “I’m working on getting bigger and shooting off the dribble.”
Joiner says he has a 3.0 GPA, and is hearing from a variety of schools such as Tennessee Martin, Hood College, and Randolph Macon College. What can he bring to a program at the next level?
“My ability to pass the ball, and high level IQ.”
Joiner is certainly a player to keep on your radar this summer. He is playing up with 17U Fairfax Stars, who feature a handful of very good players from the region.
