Recruiting Report: Kevin Caldwell (2018)
It has been an outstanding start to July for Alton 2018 point guard Kevin Caldwell. We had Caldwell projected as more of a D2 player coming into the month, but after blowing up with his play especially in Milwaukee he has secured a low-major grade. Caldwell isn’t the biggest guard, but he is a big time shot maker that hit threes consistently throughout July. Also attacks off the bounce and has improved his passing finding teammates for easy baskets.
He spoke about playing with Jets-Ramey United.
“It is going pretty good. I have been playing well with my team and creating for others. Just trying to help my team win games.”
Where has he seen the most improvements in his game?
“My ball handling has got good. More of a ball on a string. Creating I have got very good at that. My set shot is also getting really good.”
In June he was able to get back together with his high school team at Alton.
“It went good. With me being a senior leader I wanted to step up and get the young guys ready. Being a leader out there. We are going to run and get up and down. We should be able to guard every position. We don’t have that much height, but we have a lot of strength and quick guys.”
Where do things stand with recruiting?
“It is going good. I have interest from Indiana State and Lindenwood Belleville has called too. Lindenwood is showing interest too.”
Caldwell doesn’t have any offers at this stage, but we would expect him to pick up a few in the upcoming weeks.
