Recruiting Report: Kameron Davis (2018)
Spring Lake Park guard Kameron Davis was a bright spot for the Panthers during last year’s 5-21 season. His 18.2 PPG led the squad and sets himself up for a strong senior season as the lead guard.
“My expectations are for us to become a winning team,” Kam told NHR, “and prove the doubters wrong and show that we can compete. My role is to lead and to make sure that we trust in each other on and off the court and become a family. Also, to make sure that the young players are confident in their ability to play this game.”
Senior year has come up quickly for the class of 2018. All of a sudden, they’re facing their “lasts”: last AAU team, last varsity season, last chance at a big run to state.
“The weird thing about me being a senior this year is that high school basketball is coming to an end,” Kam said. “I feel like my junior year has taught me what it takes to become a winner and how to lead a team. I learned from a lot of players who were seniors last year and watching how they went about each game, and I feel well prepared taking on this leading role.”
Kam’s basketball future is still unsettled, besides the fact that he wants to (and is definitely good enough to) play college hoops. He’s certainly got the talent, but his grades may not be good enough for a four-year school right away.
“Recruitment is really slow for me as of now,” Kam said. “I’ve visited SJU. Other schools like Carthage and Augsburg are recruiting me. My GPA is a 2.0 , and I’m looking for a school that can better my education and help me play at a high level. I’ve been thinking about junior college a lot, lately.”
Kam plays AAU for Heat Pratt 17U, and you can see them play this weekend at the D1 Summer Classic in Chaska.
