Recruiting Report: Josiah James (2019)
Six-foot-6 Josiah James of Porter-Gaud is rapidly earning the respect of some of the top programs in the area and around the country.
This past weekend Team TMP out of Charleston won four of five games at the UAA Finals and they hope to carry that success into this weekend’s events in North Carolina and then in Orlando at the end of July.
“I’m hoping to win a lot of games with my team,” said James. “I think we have one of the best teams in the country and I hope we can prove it.
“I’m working on all aspects of my game each and every day but I definitely want to become a better shooter and scorer on the offensive end. I need to get stronger and faster and I plan on doing so.”
James and teammate Aaron Nesmith of the Team TMP 17u squad not only earned recognition for their individual play in the form of college opportunity but they also helped the team win a lot of games in Atlanta.
“I feel like we played great and at a high level for three of the four games,” James said. “We know what we have to work on and fix to play at a high level for every game. My favorite part was watching and playing against great talent on the circuit.”
James is getting so many scholarship offers 24 hours is too long to let recruiting talk get by without an update. He ran through the schools looking at him Monday morning and by Tuesday two more programs offered.
“I have offers from Charleston Southern, College of Charleston, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Mercer, South Florida, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Minnesota, and Florida,” said James.
“Those schools are texting me daily and I’m hearing a lot from Wake Forest, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, SMU, Yale, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.”
Virginia and Virginia Tech have both since offered James after Josiah talked with Prep Hoops yesterday. What will it take for these programs to land James?
“Academics is always at the top of the list when looking at college programs and then the relationship I have with the coaches,” Josiah said.
