Recruiting Report: Jordan Gibson (2018)
After a junior season in which he scored in double figures in all but one game, Jordan Gibson, a class of 2018 guard at Stonewall Jackson, is having a breakout summer. The 6’5 rising senior made at least one three-point field goal in every game for the Raiders, and has done more of the same on the grassroots circuit with 17U Higher Level Premier.
“I think I’m a leader who has the will to win. I’ll sacrifice for my teammates at any moment. I’m a wing player who can score the basketball at all levels and who can also get teammates involved,” said Gibson, who has made consistent strides toward improving his overall game. “The one thing I do on the court that people don’t see is my leadership. I communicate to my teammates a lot; especially on the defensive end.”
One thing we’ve noticed that Gibson has added some explosiveness since the high school season, and this was very evident at the Hoop Group Southern Jam Fest. Gibson drove baseline and posterized a defender in a hard fought contest vs. Team Wall. This is a testament to all the hours he’s spent working on his game.

“The most improved part to my game is my defense by far. I put a lot of time into it in the gym,” Gibson explained. “I’m working on getting stronger; at the next level, players are going to be bigger and stronger than me. I’m on a lifting plan to gain muscle to be prepared.”
This past school year, Gibson finished with a 3.4 GPA. He says his cumulative GPA is at a 3.2. Gibson has two offers to date; one from Millersville University, and another from Presbyterian College. Mount St. Mary’s, George Mason, High Point, La Salle, East Stroudsburg, and Lafayette are among the schools that have Gibson on their radar. What can he bring to a college program?
“The college program that gets me is getting a kid who is very hungry and who wants to win. I’m a team player with a good attitude who loves the game with a passion.”
