2017 Oregon Premier Showcase – TOP FORWARDS
Continuing our recap of the Oregon Premier Showcase. Here is a look at some of the top forwards who showcased there skills this past weekend.
Jalen Green/6’6/NW PANTHERS
I have really liked Green for a while now and he is even more impressive now. He’s really agile and strong for a forward and he is becoming much more versatile. His jumper looked good and he is becoming a guy who could play up to four spots on the floor if needed. His post moves are still coming along and he looked good down there on during the showcase.
Andre Kelly/6’8/Team Arsenal
Andre looked the part of a very good college forward. He’s a little thin and will add weight but he can space the floor and move really well. He is an able defender who really makes it hard on the other team due to his length. Offensively, he showed a lot too and the offers will start to come as we get deeper into July.
CJ Elleby/6’7/Floyd Central
CJ isn’t your prototypical forward but is much more athletic than he looks and really can get to the basket. Probably projects more of a perimeter player but he can throw around weight down low and rebound. One thing I noticed most about him was he is very fast, has a quick first step which will help him keep defenders off guard.
Kessler Edwards/6’7/Prodigy CA
Kessler was the best player in the gym on the day. He was aggressive and got to the rim, showed a really good jumper, and broke his man off the dribble. Kessler played good defense and is super athletic which helps him defend the smaller forwards. Look for Kessler to have a great summer and carry that momentum over into the winter.
Kamaka Hepa/6’9/Portland Basketball Club
Kamaka is the prototypical power forward. He has size and athleticism and can step out and shoot from long range. He is high on the top of the recruitment list for many colleges around the country and I’m sure he will have plenty of offers. During this showcase Kamaka had his way. Scoring in the low post and on the wing have been the norm throughout the years.
