Recruiting Report: DaMarc Knight (2019)
After missing his freshman season with an ACL injury, L.W. Higgins guard DaMarc Knight is back into his hoops life, full-swing.
So much so, that the 6-foot-2 wing was named Offensive MVP of the Hurricanes as a sophomore.
“When I came back from injury, I knew I had a big role to fulfill,” said Knight. “I was the leading scorer on the team, and played some good defense.”
This spring and summer, the talented wing — one of 2019’s best — is playing with Team Mitch, and has seen some recruitment start to come his way.
“The spring went pretty good, we won a couple tournaments. I’ve got some colleges talking to me now, and that felt pretty good,” said Knight.
“I’ve been working a lot on my own in the gym at Planet Fitness, just staying on the grind.”
The interest he’s seen is initial, but it’s Division I.
“I have Northwestern State, they sent some mail and want me to go to their camp,” said Knight. “New Orleans wants me to come take a visit. And Tulane is sending emails.”
With his 16U summer ahead, including the ever-important July live periods, Knight says the objective is simply to improve every day.
“My goal is to mature as a person and mature as a basketball player,” he said. “I want to get better as a player, and be more of a team player.”
