Recruiting Report: Dalton Moore (2018)
Louisiana’s 61st-ranked 2018, 6-foot-1 Walker guard Dalton Moore has decided that he’ll forego his senior season of football and focus solely on hoops.
He’s hoping the decision to work on just basketball will help him generate some additional recruitment as he heads into his senior season.
Right now, it’s the same schools after him that were before; University of Dallas and Southeastern.
“After the Southeastern Team Camp, their coach talked to my coach and mentioned that he really liked my game. And I’ve just been hearing the same from University of Dallas,” said Moore.
“And I’ve gotten some emails from some other smaller schools.”
With basketball as his main focus this spring and summer, Moore says he’s been getting into better shape, and improving his general skill-set.
“I’ve gotten stronger and more in shape,” he said. “I’ve been focusing on my body more, and just trying to make all my skills better,”
As a junior last season with Walker, Moore averaged 10 points per game, and helped the Wildcats to one of their best seasons in some time.
“I did good last season, it was one of the better years for Walker basketball,” he said. “And I just did whatever I could to help the team win.”
This summer, he’ll work on his own time to improve his game, and play with Walker in team camps whenever the opportunity presents itself.
“This summer has been really good, I played pretty well. And I’ve been getting in better shape, shooting more and just getting in the gym more,” said Moore, who elaborated on his decision to quit football and focus on hoops.
“I just decided that I have a better chance at the next level with basketball. The last two years I didn’t get to play football because I was hurt. So I just decided to quit football and focus on basketball.”
Still with some time left to generate some recruitment for hoops, Walker says he hopes to get as many opportunities as possible.
“I definitely hope some other schools will take notice and give me an opportunity,” he said.
