Recruiting Report: Charlie Gove (2018)
Charlie Gove and Nick Fulford play basketball (and football) together for Waconia. So it seems like a no-brainer than they play together for the AAU season, as well.
“During games we pretty much know where each other is at all times,” Gove told NHR. “It’s good because we both know each others’ strengths and weaknesses. I think that (Waconia) should be hard to beat this year… we have a lot of guys coming back, and they are pretty talented.”
Fulford and Gove were Waconia’s No. 1 and 3 scorers last year, respectively. The pair plays football as well, but Gove has made his choice on which one to play in college.
“I play football also, but I want to play college basketball,” he said. “Multiple Division 3 schools in Wisconsin and Minnesota have contacted me. I’m looking for a college that fits me both athletically and academically.”
Gove is very happy with his choice of playing with Select Ohnstad 17U, one of the state’s very best non-shoe teams. Select’s current 17U ranking with NHR is #5.
“The AAU season is going well,” Gove added. “We recently won the Northstar State tournament, and we also took second in the Sanford Pentagon tournament in Sioux Falls. Some of my favorite things about my AAU team is that we play as a team together well, and we love to joke around with each other.”
