Recruiting Report: Calvin Wishart (2018)
Averaging 27/8/8 in high school is a difficult thing. It’s event tougher in big school basketball. Calvin Wishart is that guy and he’s proven this summer he’s also a D1 guy.
The July months are for proving what kind of talent a player has. Wishart has proved both at the Adidas Finale and at the Adidas Prospect Series that he’s a division one playmaker that can handle athletic pressure and still run a quality offense.
“I would say the biggest part of my that has grown would be reading and reacting to better athletes and finding guys for good looks, that just comes with experience and becoming stronger and quicker in the weight room,” Calvin said.
“Something I’m proud of with this team is that with all our firepower we still play together. We make extra passes for better looks. Coaches comment all the time how fun we are to watch and that we play the game right.”
Wishart is speaking the truth about what his D1 Minnesota team is doing. They won the Prospect Series in the Twin Cities and were quarterfinalists in the Adidas Finale. Vegas is next.
“We are in the Adidas Championships in Las Vegas, and Creators Cup. I just want to go out on top of course, but also I want everyone to play their game and not worry about anything else.
“If we all do our thing and put it all together we can definitely become champions. I’m also just looking forward to ending our AAU career right, maybe do some fun things on the strip, but also know we’re there on a business trip.”
Wishart has been offered by Air Force, Furman, and Towson. There are many others talking to Wishart who could also potentially extend.
“Recently I’ve talked to South Dakota, Furman, Wofford, Air Force, Towson, Fordham, Georgia Southern, Denver, Chattanooga, and Wright State the most,” Wishart said. “Hopefully I can make a few official visits to schools like Wofford, Furman, Chattanooga, Georgia Southern schools out of the region.”
Wishart may decide next month but he’s also trying a new activity!
“Hopefully I’m ready to commit in August but I’m not rushing anything, I also decided to play Football this year, practice starting in August.”
