Recruiting Report: Cade Coleman (2019)
Michigan’s 11th-ranked 2019, Davison guard Cade Coleman is heading into his 16U summer optimistic that his current interest will materialize into offers.
There’s one in-state Division I program that has been recruiting the 6-foot-5 rising junior heavily, and other Midwest D1s are getting involved as well.
“I’ve heard a lot more from Oakland for sure, they’ve taken some pretty heavy interest. And some other small D1 schools have taken interest, like Cleveland State and Ball State have reached out with emails and that kind of stuff,” said Coleman.
“Central Michigan and Toledo have stayed in touch, Toledo is coming to watch in July a little bit. DePaul is looking to get me back on a visit sometime, that’s what they said.”
He added:“No offers yet, but I’m staying positive and just waiting for them to come in,”
After suffering a broken foot at the beginning of last season, Coleman was able to come back and play in the postseason. He’s now back and working to improve his game every day.
“I’d say that physically and mentally I’m stronger. I can secure the ball better and my shooting has stayed the same, it’s one of my strong suits,” said Coleman.
“Being able to make plays with and without the ball, and mostly with the ball in transition. And my on-ball defense has improved a lot.”
This summer, Coleman will play with Greenwood Elite, in what is sure to be an eventful July and beyond.
“I’m hoping for that first offer, because once you get that first one, it’s when other colleges really start to open their eyes and look at you more,” said Coleman.
“And also just maintaining what I have skill-wise, but also just getting better at what I already have.”
