Recruiting Report: Anthony Harris (2019)
Since his emergence onto the high school basketball scene as a frosh, Anthony Harris, a class of 2019 guard at Paul VI, has continued to develop at a steady rate. For a rising junior, Harris boasts uncommon experience. He has played in a WCAC Championship, two VISAA Championships, and the Nike EYBL Peach Jam Championship.
“I’m a fast pace player with a lot of energy, a great jumper, and a high IQ,” said Harris, who was part of the 16U Team Takeover team that won the Las Vegas Fab 48 in 2016. “Something I do on the court that most people don’t always see is bring energy and enthusiasm to every game.”
After a steady spring on the EYBL, Harris really picked it up during June, and that momentum has carried over into this month. Paul VI won their respective bracket at Maryland Team Camp in June, and Harris was a primary catalyst of this.
“I feel like I’ve worked a lot on my jump shot, and I’m a knockdown shooter,” said Harris, who shot nearly 50% from three on the EYBL. “The next part of my game that I need to work on is getting stronger.”
As he continues to grow into his body, Harris has only gained strength and confidence. Harris currently holds offers from Wake Forest, UCF, West Virginia, George Mason, Old Dominion, and Virginia Tech. Ohio State, Miami, Xavier, Holy Cross, Maryland, Dayton, and Georgia Tech have each been calling frequently. What can Harris bring to a college program?
“I think I’d bring lots of defensive energy as well as my ability to score.”
