Recruiting Report 2018: D’Marco Baucum
D’Amrco Baucum, 6’6″, Forward 2018, Riverdale Baptist HS Upper Marlboro, MD
Grassroots Team: Team BBC 17 & U.
D’Marco is having an outstanding spring and summer and he is thriving at Riverdale Baptist. On Wednesday he was awarded Co MVP in The Riverdale Baptist Falconers Summer League Championship win vs. National Christian Academy. He displayed excellent shooting mechanics up to 20 feet and played a great inside/out game. D’Marco is very powerfully built player, yet is very mobile and can beat his defender off the dribble. This coming season he should start or see seeing starting minutes on RBC’s very deep and skilled front-court.
We were very impressed with D’Marco’s versatility and he says” I can defend 1 thru 5 and I am a multi positional player on offense, but this season I will be primarily a 3 and 4. My mid range is very good, I can dribble pull up or shoot off the catch from a flash cut.” D’Marco scored from all 3 levels, hitting 3s, attacking the rim off the dribble, and mid range. He showed he can rebound in traffic and power back up and covert with a variety of low post moves. D’Marco adds, This past spring I have improved my shooting and finishing around the rim.
Currently D’Marco weighs in at 220, but says”, I want to get down to the 205-210 range. I work on conditioning and basketball 5 to 6 days a week. I ant to be able to play all quarters with high intensity. This spring and summer I running for some distance and sprints, as well as plyometrics. Sometimes my Trainer and I do sled pushes and run up hill. I know I can take my game to another level thru conditioning and basketball drills.
To date D’Marco holds offers from Towson State and James Madison University. D’Marco is showing more consistent flashes of his great upside thru hard work and if he continues his current work ethic he can be awarded to one of our All DMV I-495 after the 21017/18 season.
