Quickley closes his AAU career by putting on a scoring clinic
This week the AAU careers of the 2018 class is coming to a close. As tournaments continue to wind down, players will start preparing for their last season of high school basketball before beginning their college journey. We just saw Mount St. Joseph/Team Takeover forward Jalen Smith help lead his team to The 8 championship title. Yesterday, another top player in the country from the city of Baltimore closed his AAU career out strong as well.
Immanuel Quickley led Team BBC to what was a very exciting finish against Dream Vision early in Saturday’s action. After trailing by double-digits in the second half, Quickley turned it on and hit what was the game-winning three point shot. Team BBC won the game 75-73 and couldn’t have done it without Quickley’s 26 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Another impressive tidbit about this game was the fact that Team BBC was without Quickley’s Top-100 backcourt mate Montez Mathis.
Following the win against Dream Vision, Team BBC would meet D1 Minnesota in what would be another battle. Team BBC fell behind but this time wasn’t able to recover. They ended up losing 96-80. Again without Mathis, Quickley took control and put on a scoring clinic. He finished the game with 42 points. The 6’3 guard shot 13-for-25 from the field and 4-for-11 from three.

Despite not coming up with the win, Quickley showed why he is arguably the nation’s best point guard in the class of 2018. Throughout his six games at the Adidas Summer Championship, he averaged 25.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.
It’s important not to judge his assist averages throughout these six games. Quickley is the definition of a floor general and when he is equipped with great scorers, he can adjust his game accordingly. Not having Mathis for a few of these games could’ve changed the final verdict on their win/loss record, but it was only right for Quickley to go out with a bang.
As his senior season at John Carroll approaches, Quickley will take visits in the first weeks of September followed by a decision shortly after. All indications have been that Kentucky is the front-runner. Quickley cut his list to four schools in May: Kentucky, Maryland, Kansas, and Miami.
