Prospect Spotlight: William King (2019)
Glenbrook South 6’3” 2019 point guard William King showed his ability this spring with All-In 16U Braverman on the travel team circuit. He isn’t the greatest athlete, but has a tremendous feel for the game. The crafty lead guard is a crisp passer that makes excellent decisions with the ball in the half court. Makes the simple play over and over and over, but they are usually the correct decisions. Always has his head up in transition looking to make a play. As a scorer he is best utilizing a sweet mid-range pull up jumper and can stretch it out to three on occasion.
King spoke about his season at Glenbrook South where he averaged 7 points and 4 dimes per game.
“It went pretty well. I played up on varsity this year. I missed the second half of the season with sickness. I got to learn a lot from the seniors. We had a lot of seniors on the team. I am looking forward to next year leading our team.”
How much will the experience his first two years on varsity help him take on an even bigger role as an upperclassmen.
“It is going to help a lot because I played varsity as a freshman too. Learning what the leaders and seniors and other guys are doing has really helped me improve my game and see what I need to do to get better.”
When his game is rolling what are his strengths?
“I think my main strength is my passing, leadership, and basketball IQ. I dribble the ball pretty well and manage a team. My shot is getting better. It is still not there yet.”
King runs with All-In Braverman 16U on the circuit.
“I am loving it. We are really close. It is like a family to me. We are having a great year so far. I am the leader and the point guard. I help the team get ready for games and hold everyone accountable.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“I have gotten letters from Rochester, Elon, and Albion College, but I haven’t talked to any of them.”
