Prospect Spotlight: Micah Johnson-Parrotte (2019)
Micah Johnson-Parrotte, a class of 2019 point guard at Oakton, is a player to watch heading into the upcoming high school season. Johnson decided to sit out AAU this season to run track, but there’s no question he will be considered among the top point guards in Northern Virginia this year.
“Im a pass first point guard, but can also score when need to. I can also lock down on defense,” said Johnson. “I’m a really good communicator on the floor. Even when I’m sitting on the bench, and just watching the game.”
Johnson was the third leading scorer for Oakton last season. The Cougars will lose two of their top four scorers from a year ago, and Johnson is preparing in anticipation of a bigger offensive work load.
“The most improved parts of my game are definitely my athleticism, and my shooting ability,” Johnson explained. “I need to improve my three point range.”
One thing we like about Johnson is how he utilizes his quickness to consistently get in the lane and create. He also applies good ball pressure defensively, and is evidently a vocal leader. No one is recruiting him at the moment, but it’s still very early in the process. What can Johnson bring to a college program?
“I feel I can bring my high IQ, my passing ability, and also my defensive tenacity.”
