Prospect Spotlight: Kobe Barnett (2019)
Saginaw 6-foot-3 small forward Kobe Barnett currently checks in as Michigan’s 90th-ranked 2019, and it’s his versatility as a player that has PHMI so intrigued.
“When I’m on the floor I always have a mismatch. I have a real good inside game because I’ve been tall my whole life,” said Barnett during a recent phone interview.
“I’ve got a really good perimeter game, but I’m just versatile; I can rebound well, I can run the floor, I can do everything.”
As a sophomore with the Trojans, Barnett was the leader of the JV team. And aside from carrying a 3.5 GPA, was most proud of the influence he was able to have on his teammates.
“I was placed on JV to be a leader,” said Barnett. “The coaches just were looking to me to keep up with my stuff, and just do what I do best, and never give up, and bring the best out of my teammates.”
Now, he’s wrapping up his 16U offseason with Booker Ballers, and explained to PHMI how his spring and summer has been going.
“The summer has been going really good. I’ve been getting a lot better, more conditioned and a lot stronger,” said Barnett, who has yet to seen his recruitment start.
“I haven’t really had a lot of (college) coaches come up to me, but I’ve had my coaches putting my name out there. I just hope to get some more attention soon.”
