Prospect Spotlight: Jeff Reynolds (2018)
Small school recruiting has only really gotten started in the last couple of months and it has taken some time for them to figure out their top targets. One player is emerging as a guy that is going to be a target of a lot of schools, Jeff Reynolds of Greenwood (IN).
Reynolds already has a ton of interest but he’s picked up a couple offers the last couple days in IU-East and Saint Francis (IN). Those two schools are a couple of the best small school teams in the country and definitely in Indiana. Both teams have made runs in the NAIA national tournament the last few years and can really play at a high level.
For Reynolds, the 6’6 forward is among the more intriguing players landing offers. He’s tall, gaining strength, and starting to grow athletically. It is still a process for him and he is far from the player he will likely be once he gets to his senior season in college. That provides upside though and schools are recognizing that.
Jeff is a really solid scoring wing. Best in the mid-range where he can create a ton of offense as a pick and pop guy or catch-and-shoot. He can stretch the floor a bit but that might be the biggest area of development he will need. The frame is still thin but over the last year he has added weight and strength and it is starting to show up in his game, allowing more and more skill to take over.
As far as recruiting, look for this to be a longer process like it is with most players with small school offers. Things take a bit more time and with the interest level that he has, he’s likely to pull in a lot more offers before a commitment comes down.
