PHI Senior Showcase: Eric’s Wing Standouts
This past weekend, we brought in 90 of the top 2018’s from around the state of Indiana. Together, with more than 30 college programs in the gym, we showcased that talent and we had a great day. When looking back, there were some definite standouts. Today, I detail my favorite wings from the event.
Donald Lee (North Central) – This might have been one of the better performances I have seen from Lee. He was more aggressive and tough using his athleticism more effectively. Has some work to do on the offensive end but he’s moving in the right direction. He’s a guy that has a ton of versatility and if put in the right place, he could make an impact in a lot of different areas on the floor. Good weekend for him to boost his stock heading into the first live period.
Anthony Barnard (Kokomo) – Barnard has been a guy I’ve liked for a while. He just outplays everyone else, all of the time. He has gotten better as a scorer but whether he scores or not isn’t going to stop him from being a productive player. His defense, rebounding, and passing are really good and he’s a fit for nearly every level because he can do what a lot of other players just don’t care to do.
Dontez Rayner (Ind. Lighthouse) – Rayner is an interesting player and he showed why this weekend. He’s a big, guard with broad shoulders and tons of strength. He really likes to drive the ball and just overpowers defenders. He’s a guy that got a lot of attention from a lot of different coaches on Saturday because of the fact they can play him on the wing and he should be able to handle it well.
Jeff Reynolds (Greenwood) – Reynolds is getting better and better. More fluid of an athlete now and it is helping him finish some plays on the offensive end. He’s got that versatility in the mid-range to be able to score it pretty well and create mismatches. Fits a lot of different spots for a lot of different teams. 3-4-5 for any non-DI program and should have a mismatch at any of those spots.
Caleb Brown (Broad Ripple) – Brown is starting to show he can play away from the rim more and more. He’s a guy could potentially land a bevy of offers really quickly because the size, skill, and academics make him a great prospect from any non-DI program and should get more serious interest from DI’s if he can play like he did this weekend. If the perimeter jumper is there to go with is mid-range shot, he looks fantastic.
