Prospect Report: Maalik Siegel (2018)
Class of 2018 6’3 wing Maalik Siegel of NW PROSPECTS has had a huge summer so far and is a huge advocate of the term, “HARD WORK PAYS OFF.”
Maalik is a combo guard who flourishes in big moments in big games. He has a HIGH IQ of the game and can visual a play prior to it happening. A senior next year the Indians will need him to take the reigns and be that go to guy. Teams have already started to add him on their target list of players to watch out for. With a deadly 3 point shot and Jason Kidd like court vision, this young man is ready to take his senior and Washington by storm.
I got a chance to meet up and speak with young man and asked him to describe his game.
“My game stands because I am a sharpshooter, I have good basketball IQ and can handle the ball. I can play both ends of the court at my size. Most of the time I usually will guard the other teams best player and play him physical.”
“This off-season I need to work hard on my handles and conditioning. I know at the next level I will need to play both point and off guard. I would like to be able to play at a high level for an entire game.”
How is AAU going for you this summer and who are you playing with?
“I play for NORTHWEST PROSPECTS and my team and I have been doing good. We need to work on some things but we are looking nice and everybody is starting to know there role. My role is to be aggressive and create shots for myself and others.”
How is recruitment looking for you right now?
“I have a couple of JUCO/D2 programs that have shown interest in me but nothing major.”
I think he hit the nail on the coffin. D2 schools should start to take notice and can use his versatile abilities.
